This Month: Comeback Kings

On the 25th of November the Colts had a dramatic game at home to Ockley Acorns. 4-0 down at half time wasn’t needed. But the Colts showed real spirit to come back and win 5-4. An impressive second half display earned them a first win of the 06/07 season. You might think that the Colts were lucky but seeing as it’s not the first time it’s happened you might have to think twice. The three most memorable comebacks are the recent Ockley comeback, the cup win against Chiddingfold and the away league win against Upper Beeding. In the games the Colts have struggled first half and gone in behind, against Chiddingfold and Upper Beeding it was just the 2 goals but Chiddingfold were a much higher calibre opposition which has been justified by their promotion and Upper Beeding’s strike force had found their shooting boots. Chiddingfold were only defeated in a penalty shoot out which shows a hint of luck because as we all know the best team isn’t always the victor in a penalty shoot out. On the other hand, in the Ockley game the Colts trailed four goals to nil at half time in a game they knew they could win and the same could be said for the Upper Beeding game. Each time the ball hit the net confidence increased pushing the Colts on to a famous victory. Another noticeable factor in two of the games are goals from captain, Jack Ray. The only two 11 a side goals he’s scored for the Colts have come at crucial moments which have led to inimitable victories. So maybe, when you least expect it and you’re leading by a number of goals at half time you might get a little shock when the Colts come out ready for a comeback…
