Founded in the season of 2004/05 by one man alone he merged two big teams of East Grinstead. He realized two primary school teams with great players were about to end their time playing for their school teams so he took these two teams to one training session, he carefully watched each individual player and selected from the interested players. He had a squad of twelve players with the best players from the two teams, he then went on a search. The first player was a friend from school he was a good all round player without a team, so he was asked if he wanted to play, he came along and couldn’t say no to the opportunity. Next a man from the manager’s old Thursday night team came along with his son; his son wanted to play football so he played in a trial match against Ashurst Wood and shortly after joined. The next choice was the hardest one to come we had 14 players we were looking for a squad of 16; we then were informed of three players wanting to join! The manager had a decision. He watched them play in training and still couldn’t separate the two players he wanted to sign and the unfortunate player. There was no other option he had to see them play in a real match in the real situation. A friendly with Ashurst Wood was arranged and it was agreed the 3 new players would be trialed. The game ended in a loss for the Colts but the purpose of the game was achieved, two of the three players were signed and the other one missed out, but not by much. The squad was full but at the end of the season a new player arrived, he was well known as he played for one of the two teams that were merged and he had turned down the chance to sign at the beginning of the season as he decided he would rather play rugby, but now he’s back ready for season 2005/06 and so are the rest of the Colts, ready to win the league. But unfortuantly for the Colts tthe season didn't go quite as planned. They started off well and were in 3rd place for a while. Then they started to slip down the table. The Colts were in a tough situation; they were postioned near the bottom of the table and were losing week in week out. Then along came their spell of the season, they defeated Ashington Cougars and knocked them out of the promotion spot and finished with a 2-0 win against Maidenbower on the last day of the season. The Colts finished in 8th position in the division and are now looking forward to a successful season in 2006 and 2007.
